Jose Abreu joining White Sox's bench Monday
Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu is not in the lineup for Monday's series opener against left-hander J.A. Happ and the Minnesota Twins.
Abreu has hit safely in eight consecutive starts and increased his batting average from .208 to .255 in that span. It looks like the White Sox are giving him Monday off. Andrew Vaughn will cover first base and hit fifth. Yermin Mercedes will bat cleanup in place of Abreu. Billy Hamilton will enter the lineup to play center field and hit ninth. Nick Madrigal has been moved up to bat second.
