Pete Alonso sitting Wednesday for Mets
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is not in the lineup for Wednesday's series finale against right-hander Charlie Morton and the Atlanta Braves.
Alonso appears to be getting a routine breather. The Mets are off Thursday, so he will enjoy two full days of rest unless he makes a bench appearance. Dominic Smith will cover first base Wednesday and bat cleanup. Cameron Maybin will make a start in left field and hit third.
numberFire’s models project Smith for 9.4 FanDuel points and he has a $2,800 salary on Wednesday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Mets have the fifth-lowest implied total (3.5 runs) in the majors on Wednesday.
