Domingo German pitching for Yankees Thursday night
New York Yankees pitcher Domingo German will start in Thursday night's second-half opener against Eduardo Rodriguez and the Boston Red Sox.
German will make his 16th start of the season while Gerrit Cole takes another day of rest. The right-hander's last two appearances came in relief and his past three starts all ended before the fifth inning.
German recorded a 4.44 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 75 strikeouts and 19 walks across 81 innings prior to the break. The 28-year-old is registering a career-low 21.9 strikeout percentage this season, but he is combating that with a personal-best 5.6 walk percentage.
