Orioles' Keegan Akin scratched from Wednesday start, placed on COVID-19 IL
The Baltimore Orioles placed pitcher Keegan Akin on the COVID-19 injured list.
Akin was scheduled to start Wednesday afternoon's series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays, but left-hander Alexander Wells will now make his first career start in the majors. The Orioles haven't indicated whether Akin tested positive for the virus himself, so it's not clear how much time the left-hander may miss.
Akin is averaging 11.5 FanDuel points per start this season and his wOBA (.393) ranks in the bottom two percent of the majors, among qualified pitchers.
