Bradley Zimmer (illness) scratched Thursday, Oscar Mercado added to Indians lineup

Cleveland Indians outfielder Bradley Zimmer is experiencing cold symptoms and has been scratched from Thursday's lineup against right-hander Luis Patino and the Tampa Bay Rays.

What It Means:

The Indians don't believe Zimmer has COVID-19, but the outfielder will be tested for the virus as a precaution. Oscar Mercado is now starting in center field in place of Zimmer and hitting ninth in Thursday's series opener. Cesar Hernandez is in the leadoff spot after Zimmer led off the order last game.

numberFire’s models project Mercado for 6.0 FanDuel points and he has a $2,100 salary on Thursday. Hernandez ($2,800) is projected for 10.8 FanDuel points. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Indians have an implied total of 4.1 runs. Patino is registering a 27.6 strikeout percentage with a 5.7 walk percentage this season.
