Jose Abreu (neck) on White Sox's sidelines Thursday
Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu (neck) is not in the starting lineup for Thursday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Carlos Hernandez and the Kansas City Royals.
Abreu is dealing with neck stiffness and he is also hitless in his last 14 at-bats. Gavin Sheets is making a start at first base in place of Abreu on Thursday and hitting cleanup.
Per numberFire's MLB Heat Map, the White Sox have the highest implied total in the majors on Thursday (5.4 runs). Among qualified pitchers this season, Hernandez's walk rate (15.9 percent) ranks in the bottom three percent and his hard hit rate (46.5 percent) ranks in the bottom seven percent. Sheets has a $2,300 salary on Thursday's slate and numberFire's models project him for 14.7 FanDuel points, making him our top overall point-per-dollar value among hitters.
