Jose Iglesias joining Angels' bench Thursday afternoon
Los Angeles Angels infielder Jose Iglesias is not in the starting lineup for Thursday afternoon's series finale against left-hander Keegan Akin and the Baltimore Orioles.
Iglesias is taking a seat after going 3-for-8 with a pair of doubles, 5 runs, and 2 RBI in the first two games of this series. Jack Mayfield is starting at shortstop in place of Iglesias and hitting eighth Thursday night. Phil Gosselin is playing third base again.
numberFire’s models project Mayfield for 10.2 FanDuel points and he has a $2,300 salary on Thursday’s slate. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Angels have an implied total of 5.4 runs. Akin is registering a 19.1 strikeout percentage and a 9.0 walk percentage this season, with a 5.76 xERA and a .360 xwOBA, the latter two of which both rank in the bottom eight percent of the league.
