Adalberto Mondesi out of Royals' lineup Thursday

Kansas City Royals infielder Adalberto Mondesi is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's series finale against right-hander Triston McKenzie and the Cleveland Indians.

What It Means:

Mondesi served as the Royals' designated hitter on Wednesday in his return from a two-plus month stint on the injured list for an oblique injury. The 26-year-old struck out three times, but he finished 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a stolen base, and an additional run scored. Carlos Santana is taking over DH duties and hitting fifth Thursday while Hunter Dozier plays first base. Edward Olivares is entering the lineup to play right field and hit seventh.

numberFire’s models project Santana for 10.1 FanDuel points and he has a $2,800 salary on Thursday’s slate. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Royals have an implied total of 4.3 runs. McKenzie is registering a 28.5 strikeout percentage and a 12.5 walk percentage this season, with a 3.97 xERA and a .305 xwOBA.
