Matt Vierling moving to Phillies' bench Thursday
Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Matt Vierling is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's series opener against right-hander Connor Overton and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Brad Miller is starting on first base over Vierling and batting fifth.
Per numberFire's MLB Heat Map, the Phillies have an implied total of 4.9 runs. Overton is registering a 21.4 strikeout percentage and a 7.1 walk percentage through his first 11 2/3 innings in the majors. Miller has a $2,300 salary and our models project him for 12.3 FanDuel points, making him our third-best point-per-dollar play among hitters.
