Reds' Anthony DeSclafani (oblique) feels good after live batting practice

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Anthony DeSclafani (oblique) reported feeling good after throwing 40 pitches in a live batting practice session on Monday.

What It Means:

The next step will be a minor league rehab assignment. He'll likely make two starts in the minors before being activated, so he's on track for a return in early May. Tim Melville really struggled in his most recent start, so Dan Straily will likely fill in until DeSclafani is ready.

DeSclafani posted a 3.97 xFIP across 184 2/3 innings in 2015, his first full season in the bigs, and his 19.2 strikeout percentage was below the league average of 20.4 percent. Our models currently project DeSclafani to record a 4.18 ERA and 19.4 strikeout percentage in 94 innings pitched in 2016.
