Marlins place Jon Berti (groin) on IL

The Miami Marlins placed infielder Jon Berti on the 10-day injured list with a left groin strain Friday.

What It Means:

Berti exited Thursday's game with a groin issue and he will be out until at least July 25. The Marlins activated outfielder Jorge Soler from the IL in a corresponding roster move. Joey Wendle will replace Berti on second base and in the leadoff spot for Friday's series opener against right-hander Kyle Gibson and the Philadelphia Phillies.

numberFire’s models project Wendle for 12.1 FanDuel points on Friday, and he has a $2,300 salary, which currently makes him our second-best point-per-dollar value among hitters. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Marlins’ implied total (3.61) is No. 19 in the majors on Friday.
