Alex Avila (hamstring) headed to White Sox Triple-A on Friday
Chicago White Sox catcher Alex Avila (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.
Avila was placed on the disabled list with a strained hamstring last week. It sounds like he's making good progress and should be available as soon as he's eligible to come off the disabled list. Dioner Navarro and Hector Sanchez have been filling in behind the plate.
In 33 appearances this season, Avila is hitting .214/.333/.250 with a .278 wOBA.
