Marlins option Peyton Burdick to minors

The Miami Marlins optioned outfielder Peyton Burdick to Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.

What It Means:

Burdick was sent down to clear room for Avisail Garcia's return from the injured list. JJ Bleday will replace Burdick in center field and bat seventh in Tuesday's series opener against right-hander Aaron Nola and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Burdick hit just .171 (14-for-82) with a .554 OPS for the Marlins across his first 26 MLB games. Bleday has a $2,100 salary on Tuesday and numberFire’s models project him for 6.9 FanDuel points. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Marlins’ implied total (2.87) is the lowest in the majors today.
