White Sox taking on Kansas City without Avisail Garcia, Jimmy Rollins
Chicago White Sox right fielder Avisail Garcia and short stop Jimmy Rollins are not in the starting lineup on Saturday.
It's the second day off in the past three games for Garcia, and the second consecutive for the veteran Rollins (which is somewhat curious, considering there is no known ailment). Jerry Sands is starting at first base and batting cleanup while Jose Abreu shifts over to the designated hitter role in the lineup. Tyler Saladino is once again starting in place for Rollins and will bat ninth against Danny Duffy and the Royals.
Garcia is hitting .248/.313/.413 in 134 plate appearances this season. He holds a .321 wOBA while hitting four jacks and driving in 15 runs on the year. Rollins is having a slow start to the season, slashing .239/.297/.368 with two home runs, four stolen bases, and a .291 wOBA in 128 plate appearances. Our models currently project him to basically maintain this pace over the remaining course of the season, hitting .238/.312/.360 in 416 plate appearances with eight home runs, 13 steals, and a .299 wOBA.
