Mariners place Leonys Martin on 15-day disabled list
Seattle Mariners outfielder Leonys Martin has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.
Rather than rush the hot-hitting outfielder back, they'll give him the proper time to heal his injury. Stefan Romero has been recalled from Triple-A to take his place on the M's roster.
Martin is off to a stellar start in his first year in Seattle. He is sporting a career-best .354 wOBA in 167 plate appearances to go with nine homers and eight steals. His 35.2 percent hard-hit rate is promising, but his 21.4 percent home-run-to-fly-ball ratio is likely unsustainable. We project him to come back to earth and post a .296 wOBA with seven more bombs and 15 more steals over the rest of the season.
