Astros' Jose Altuve (thumb) to undergo surgery
Houston Astros infielder Jose Altuve will have surgery this week after suffering a right thumb fracture during the World Baseball Classic.
Altuve was hit by a pitch during Saturday's game and has been diagnosed with a right thumb fracture. He will undergo surgery in the upcoming days. A timetable for his return is not yet known, but he is expected to miss an extended period of time.
In 604 plate appearances last season, Altuve hit 0.300 with 28 homers, 103 runs, and 57 RBI.
