Padres' Juan Soto (oblique) expected to be ready for Opening Day
San Diego Padres outfielder Juan Soto's MRI for an oblique strain did not reveal anything significant, per manager Bob Melvin.
Soto was removed from Sunday's minor league game for precautionary reasons. Melvin said the strain is "minimal" and he remains "optimistic" that Soto will be ready for Opening Day on March 30 versus the Colorado Rockies. The 24-year-old star went 6-of-15 (.400) with 2 homers, 3 doubles, and 3 RBI. He struck out and was walked three times each.
numberFire's models project Soto to have a .264 batting average and .860 OPS across 637 plate appearances this season, with 27 homers, 80 RBI, 91 runs scored, and 7 steals.
