Twins' Brandon Kintzler earns save, will get more chances

Minnesota Twins reliever Brandon Kintzler earned his first save of the season on Wednesday night against the Miami Marlins.

What It Means:

Twins' manager Paul Molitor said after the game Kintzler will share closer duties with Fernando Abad moving forward. That means no more opportunities for Kevin Jepsen and his 6.17 season ERA, at least for a while. Kintzler struck out Giancarlo Stanton in a clean ninth inning Wednesday and boasts a 2.30 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 11 punch outs and one walk in 15 2/3 innings for the year. He was called up from Triple-A Rochester on May 8.

The save Wednesday was the first of Kintzler's career. He owns a 18.0 percent strikeout rate and 3.08 SIERA over 196 2/3 career innings.
