Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno is not in the lineup for Thursday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Josiah Gray and the Washington Nationals.
What It Means:
Moreno will move to the bench after starting the first two games of the series. Jose Herrera will catch for Merrill Kelly and hit ninth.
Per numberFire's MLB Heat Map, the Diamondbacks' implied total is 4.62 and the game total is 8.5. Gray has a career-best 3.09 ERA this season, but his 4.49 xERA is actually higher than last year (4.25). The 25-year-old is also on pace for career-worst strikeout (19.0%) and walk (11.4%) rates.
