Giants place Santiago Casilla on paternity leave
The San Francisco Giants placed closer Santiago Casilla on the paternity leave list.
Casilla is expected to be away from the team for three days due to the birth of his child. The Giants will likely go with Hunter Strickland or Javier Lopez in the ninth inning while Casilla is away from the team.
Casilla has 14 saves, a 31.5 strikeout rate and a 2.67 ERA through 27 innings pitched in 2016. Our models project him to have 18 more saves while posting a 2.54 ERA and a 26.3 strike out rate over the rest of the campaign.
