Ryan Vogelsong (eye) activated to start Thursday for Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates activated pitcher Ryan Vogelsong from the 60-day disabled list.
Vogelsong will start Thursday against the Atlanta Braves. He was hit by a comebacker in May, suffering facial fractures, and needed just over two months to recover. The 39 year-old posted an impressive 2.86 ERA across a four-game rehab assignment in the minors.
Vogelsong owns a 3.74 ERA and 4.79 xFIP in 21 2/3 innings pitched (two starts) this season for the Pirates. His 17.00 strikeout percentage is below the league average of 21.00 percent. Vogelsong gets to face a Braves' offense that owns the worst team wOBA (.290) this season.
