Red Sox remain without Brad Ziegler (flu)
Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Brad Ziegler (flu) remains unavailable Wednesday.
Ziegler also won't be on the team flight headed for the West Coast following Wednesday's contest against the Tampa Bay Rays, but the Red Sox are optimistic he'll be able to make it there on his own Friday. The Red Sox are keeping the 36-year-old right-hander away from the rest of the team while he deals with a pretty rough case of the flu.
Ziegler owns a 2.51 ERA and 3.63 xFIP across 57 1/3 innings of work for both the Red Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks this season. His 19.6 strikeout percentage is below the current league average (21.0 percent), but is a personal best for the veteran's nine-year major league career.
