Andrew Bailey picks up a save as Angels beat Mariners

Los Angeles Angels pitcher Andrew Bailey recorded a perfect ninth inning, holding onto a two-run lead and earning his first save of the year as the Angels beat the Seattle Mariners 4-2.

What It Means:

The Angels had to go deep into their bullpen after Matt Shoemaker was lifted from his start with a second-inning injury, and Bailey made good on the opportunity, notching his first big league save since 2013.

Bailey has struggled a bit this season, with a 6.03 ERA, but he hasn't been pitching as poorly as that number might indicate, and he owns a 4.12 SIERA with a 22.4 percent strikeout rate. Not exactly stellar numbers, but not as awful as his ERA makes it look.
