Yankees ink Billy Butler to a majors contract
The New York Yankees have signed former Oakland Athletics designated hitter Billy Butler to a major league contract.
Butler is expected to start at designated hitter for the Yankees when they're up against left-handed pitching, as is scheduled to be the case 7 times in their next 11 games.
The 30-year-old Butler has struggled against southpaws this year, slashing only .262/.316/.369 with a .294 wOBA through 114 plate appearances.
