Rangers' Josh Hamilton undergoes surgery on left knee
Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton underwent surgery Monday to repair torn cartilage in his left knee.
Hamilton will spend six weeks on the shelf before being able to resume running. This is the fourth procedure on his left knee over the past 15 months. Turning 36 in May, Hamilton might be forced to call it a career as a major leaguer. He signed a minor league deal with the Rangers in January.
Hamilton didn't play at all in the majors last season and has competed in only 139 games since Opening Day in 2014. He slashed .260/.318/.423 across the 2014 and 2015 seasons (563 plate appearances) while tallying 18 home runs and 69 RBI's. His 28.4 strikeout percentage over that span is well above his 21.6 percent career-average.
