Matt Bush getting first crack at Rangers' closing duties
Texas Rangers reliever Matt Bush will get the first chance to close with Sam Dyson (hand) going on the disabled list, manager Jeff Banister said Monday.
Bush will get the first save opportunity, but he won't get all of them, meaning Jeremy Jeffress is going to be involved in some ninth innings as well. The 31-year-old Bush comes with some questions regarding the health of his shoulder, but he's more than capable of seizing the gig. Don't leave him on any waivers.
Bush owns a 3.86 ERA in 4 2/3 innings this season (four appearances). He's fanned 8-of-19 batters for an impressive 42.1 strikeout percentage.
