Shawn Kelley placed on Nationals' disabled list with back strain

Washington Nationals reliever Shawn Kelley has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a lower back strain.

What It Means:

The Nationals' ninth-inning woes continue. He shouldn't be out long, but back injuries aren't something to take lightly. Koda Glover (hip) figures to take over closing duties once he's activated from the disabled list. Enny Romero, Joe Blanton and Blake Treinen will likely work together to take care of the final three outs in the meantime.

Kelley owns a 5.40 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 31.0 strikeout percentage across 10 innings this season. He has three saves in four chances.
