Francisco Rodriguez blows another save for the Tigers
Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Francisco Rodriguez allowed three runs in the ninth inning on Sunday as he blew another save chance in the Tigers' 8-6 loss to the Oakland Athletics.
Rodriguez was handed a 6-5 lead but gave up a walk to Rajai Davis, then a RBI double to Jed Lowrie before Ryon Healy cranked a two-run shot over the wall for the A's victory. Rodriguez now has four blown saves in 11 chances and picked up two losses in the series with Oakland. His grasp on the closer job in Detroit is tenuous at best.
Rodriguez owns an ugly 8.31 ERA with a 1-4 record and seven saves in 11 2/3 innings pitched this season.
