Machi supplants Tazawa as Red Sox closer
Boston Red Sox interim manager Torey Lovullo announced that Jean Machi has overtaken Junichi Tazawa as the team's closer.
It's a no-brainer, considering how Lovullo handled the two of them over the weekend, pulling Tazawa on Friday from a potential save chance, while letting Machi take the next opportunity on Saturday. Machi is worth picking up while he's got the closer job.
Tazawa has given up five earned runs, seven hits, and five walks with no strikeouts during his last three appearances. Machi hasn't been much better, with only one strikeout in his last seven appearances, so it's not like he's sure to hang onto the job. Still, saves are saves.
