Cubs place John Lackey (foot) on the 10-day DL
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher John Lackey (foot) has been placed on the 10-day DL with plantar fasciitis in his right foot.
Lackey has been dealing with the injury for a while now, but with him not scheduled to start until after the All-Star break, the Cubs made the move to free up a roster spot for their weekend series with the Milwaukee Brewers. Kyle Schwarber was called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move.
numberFire's algorithms project Lackey for a 4.22 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 70 strikeouts in 91 2/3 innings pitched the rest of the season.
