Ryan Buchter acquired by the Royals in six-player deal
The Kansas City Royals have acquired pitchers Trevor Cahill, Brandon Maurer, and Ryan Buchter from the San Diego Padres in exchange for pitchers Matt Strahm and Travis Wood and infielder Esteury Ruiz.
A veteran left-handed reliever, Buchter will help the Royals solidify the back end of their bullpen, along with Maurer as they make a run for the playoffs.
Buchter owns a 4.42 xFIP with 11.03 strikeouts per 9 innings pitched across 42 appearances and 38 1/3 innings this season.
