Rays place Jake Odorizzi on 10-day DL
The Tampa Bay Rays placed starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi on the 10-day disabled list with a lower back strain.
Odorizzi didn't make it out of the fifth inning in Sunday's start against the Texas Rangers. You can expect him back in roughly 10 days, but it's uncertain who will occupy his spot in the rotation Friday night against the New York Yankees. Reliever Andrew Kittredge was recalled from Triple-A in the club's corresponding move.
In 18 starts, Odorizzi is 6-4 with a 5.74 FIP on the year. He's also allowed 2.19 home runs per 9 innings, a career-worst since joining the Rays.
