Cardinals' Trevor Rosenthal dealing with a UCL issue
St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Trevor Rosenthal's (elbow) injury is centered around "the stability of his ligament, and surgery is option," according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Rosenthal will go for a second opinion on his elbow before making a decision, but obviously surgery would be the worst case scenario. GM John Mozeliak said they are hoping he will come back after some rest and rehab, but it appears all options are on the table. While Rosenthal is out, Seung Hwan Oh should close game for the Redbirds.
Rosenthal owns a 3.40 ERA and 2.53 xFIP over 50 appearances and 47.2 innings in 2017. He has 11 saves and a career-best 37.6 strikeout rate.
