Cleveland's Mike Clevinger earns a spot in the starting rotation

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona has named pitcher Mike Clevinger to the team's starting rotation for 2018.

What It Means:

With Danny Salazar not expected to be ready for Opening Day, the Indians had two openings in the rotation behind Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco, and Trevor Bauer. After a strong performance on Monday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Clevinger has snagged the fourth spot with Ryan Merrit and Josh Tomlin battling for the final slot.

Clevinger posted a 4.05 xFIP, 4.24 SIERA, and 137 strikeouts in 121 1/3 innings pitched in 21 starts in 2017.
