David Price diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, scratched from Wednesday's start for Red Sox

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher David Price has been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome.

What It Means:

Red Sox manager Alex Cora described the diagnosis as "good news" and said it's a mild case. The 32-year-old left-hander was scratched from Wednesday's scheduled start against the New York Yankees due to numbness in his left hand, which may help explain Price's 8.47 ERA over his last three starts. Rick Porcello will fill the void on the mound Wednesday at Yankee Stadium.

Price is averaging 23.5 FanDuel points per game this season. Assuming he doesn't land on the DL, numberFire's models project him to record a 4.13 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 90 strikeouts and 32 walks in 95 2/3 innings over the remainder of the year.
