Pedro Strop converts save for Cubs in place of Brandon Morrow (biceps)

Chicago Cubs reliever Pedro Strop picked up his 3rd save of the season in Thursday's 9-6 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

What It Means:

After Brandon Morrow (biceps inflammation) landed on the disabled list, it wasn't clear who manager Joe Maddon would turn to in the ninth. Steve Cishek handled the seventh and then Carl Edwards took care of the next five outs before yielding a run, so Strop was called on to finish things off. The Cubs and Cardinals will square off again on Friday afternoon.

Strop is averaging 5.5 FanDuel points in 41 appearances this season, while spinning a 2.50 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with 39 strikeouts and 14 walks across 39 2/3 innings.
