Cubs interested in Orioles' Zach Britton

The Chicago Cubs "remain deeply involved" in trade discussions for Baltimore Orioles closer Zach Britton, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.

What It Means:

Mooney's report would seem to indicate that he's at the top of the Cubs' wish list, though we were already aware they were interested in him. With Brandon Morrow (biceps) sidelined, targeting another late-inning lefty makes sense, but Morrow will close for Chicago whenever he's healthy, so this wouldn't be the best fantasy landing spot for Britton.

Our models project Britton to toss another 15 1/3 innings pitched, with a 4.14 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, 24.2 percent strikeout rate, and 7 more saves. These projections could change if Britton is traded to a different situation, however.
