James Paxton (back) scratched from Tuesday's return to Mariners' rotation, Roenis Elias to make spot start
Seattle Mariners pitcher James Paxton (back) has been scratched from Tuesday's start against the San Francisco Giants.
Paxton was scheduled to return to the Mariners' rotation Tuesday but Roenis Elias will make a spot start instead. The left-hander landed on the disabled list after being lifted from his final start of the first half due to lower back inflammation.
Paxton averaged 38.8 FanDuel points and went 8-4 in 20 starts for Seattle during the first half, while spinning a 3.70 ERA with 155 strikeouts and 33 walks across 119 1/3 innings.
