Liam Hendriks to be used as "opener" for Oakland on Friday
Oakland Athletics pitcher Liam Hendriks will be used as the team's "opener" against the Texas Rangers.
What It Means:
Hendriks has been used primarily out of the bullpen this year for the Athletics, but he'll get the start on Friday. The Tampa Bay Rays have popularized this method, and Hendriks is likely to go an inning or two at most, with Chris Bassitt coming in after.
