3 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays for 1/27/17
Al Horford, C, Boston Celtics
FanDuel Price: $7,600
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
It should come as no surprise that there are several ways to go with your one center spot on FanDuel's 10-game Friday slate, but what specifically should keep Al Horford's ownership down is the fact that both of the top options are in terrific spots for production.
DeMarcus Cousins has been on a tear recently and takes on a susceptible Indiana Pacers frontcourt. Just below him in price is Marc Gasol, who has been on a scoring rampage and takes on a Portland Trail Blazers defense that has been destroyed in the post this season.
Why You Should Use Him:
Horford has been a model of consistency in January, with his lowest FanDuel score being 29.2 points in those 11 games. He's played especially well over his past three games, averaging 37.3 FanDuel points and 35 minutes.
He has an excellent chance to maintain his recent success in tonight's matchup against the Orlando Magic, who have allowed the fifth-most FanDuel points to opposing centers and rank 24th in rebounding rate. They've also allowed the sixth-most points in the post and the highest points per possession in the post.
Furthermore, starting center Nikola Vucevic ranks 26th among centers in defensive real plus-minus (DRPM), while backup Bismack Biyombo ranks 44th.
Horford easily leads Boston in points scored in the post, and he has had no problem being productive against Vucevic recently, averaging 34 FanDuel points in their past five meetings. He isn't quite as flashy of an option as Cousins or Gasol, but don't forget about him. His ability to contribute in all categories (6.8 boards and 5.6 assists per game in January) make him a safe cash-game option, and he displayed his upside in his most recent game by dropping 46.1 FanDuel points on the Houston Rockets.
