5 NBA FanDuel Value Plays to Target on 10/23/19

One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays. If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing in one of these lower-priced options into your lineup.

Let's take a look at five players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup.

Bryn Forbes, PG, San Antonio Spurs ($3,500)

Bryn Forbes is numberFire's top projected value play tonight among point guards. The San Antonio Spurs are 10-point favorites over the New York Knicks in a game with a 215-point over/under. That puts San Antonio's implied total at hefty 112.5 points, sixth-highest on the 22-team slate.

Forbes is projected for 28 minutes, a pretty insane workload for someone priced at minimum salary and in a spot this promising. Forbes averaged just 0.69 FanDuel points per minute last year on a 17.1% usage rate, so the ceiling may be a tiny bit capped, but San Antonio can run wild on the Knicks, allowing Forbes to pay off no matter where he lands in the backcourt pecking order.

Tyler Herro, SG, Miami Heat ($3,600)

The 19-year-old Tyler Herro slots into a matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies, a disappointing first matchup. The total is just 212 points, second-lowest on the main slate. However, Herro can still pay off at just $100 off the minimum salary, regardless of the defense.

Herro had a 20.7% usage rate in the preseason and averaged 0.93 FanDuel points per minute while taking 0.42 field goal attempts per minute, as well. With Dion Waiters suspended for this game, Herro should have the green light in his debut. The anticipated shot volume gives him a floor and a ceiling.

Kelly Oubre, SF, Phoenix Suns ($5,500)

The top fantasy night of the game features the Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings. The over/under is 234.5 points, a full 7.5 points higher than any other game on the 11-game docket, so this is a priority game to target whenever and however we can.

Oubre had a 30.9% usage rate in the preseason (it was 22.3% last year), and heavy involvement in a back-and-forth game makes Oubre worth the salary, which is about the high end of "value" range.

That's especially true when considering that the small forward pool is pretty barren at the top end. Oubre is one of my favorite plays on the entire slate.

Maxi Kleber, PF, Dallas Mavericks ($3,700)

Maxi Kleber's value projection (7.93 FanDuel points per minute) by numberFire's algorithm is pretty bonkers -- one of the highest we'll see all season, really. It's just too high to highlight some of my other preferred value options (PJ Washington ($3,800) and Zach Collins ($4,600)) instead, so I'll talk about Kleber.

We project Kleber for 31.6 minutes tonight at just $200 above the bare minimum, and the over/under is a nice 220 points. The heavy minutes projection and game environment make Kleber a safer option of the more-productive-per-minute Washington and Collins. Kleber last year had a 13.2% usage rate and averaged 0.85 FanDuel points per minute.

Power forward overall is kind of a flat position at the top with 10 options between $7,000 and $8,500, so taking savings here and spending up at center, point guard, and shooting guard is an enticing proposition.

Boban Marjanovic, C, Dallas Mavericks ($3,500)

Center is a loaded position tonight, so I don't advocate spending down here. Sometimes, though, you have to. Or you just want to. Doing so will all but guarantee a pretty unique roster construction.

Boban Marjanovic is a hyper-efficient producer on a per-minute basis (1.05 FanDuel points per minute in the preseason and 1.31 last regular season), and he should be able to net around 20 FanDuel points in 17-or-so minutes.

You're automatically capping your upside unless Boban gets to run free with the Mavericks, but he is a fine punt play if you're avoiding the expensive centers or are purposely trying to change up your lineup construction.
