3 NBA DraftKings Studs to Target on 12/2/19
While building a daily fantasy basketball lineup, it's important to make sure you find the right studs to anchor your team. As the most expensive players in your lineup, they need big-time production to match their high price tag.
You may find it hard to fit some of these guys in while staying under the salary cap, but you can check out our projections to find value players for your rosters. Let's take a look at the top high-priced DraftKings plays of the day.
Trae Young, PG, Atlanta Hawks
DraftKings Price: $10,500
On a rather limited six-game slate, only Giannis Antetokounmpo ($12,000) is priced higher than Trae Young. And the former is still priced where he was prior to Khris Middleton's return to the lineup, so it might be best to take the $1,500 difference, roster Young and invest that salary elsewhere.
By himself, though, Young is a monster play. Averaging 49.1 DraftKings points for the year, he's upped that to 56.6 over his last five. In that time, he has averaged 36.4 points on 50.4% from the floor, 47.2% from three and 94.9% from the line. He has used 35.6% of his team's available possessions, according to NBA.com.
Young has been even better at home, too. Over the entirety of his 19 games, he's put up three more DK points per game with a higher usage rate (34.3%) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.03).
Per FanDuel Sportsbook, his Atlanta Hawks are favored by 5.5, and with an over/under of 222.5, they possess a healthy 114-point implied total against the visiting Golden State Warriors. Expect Young to reap the benefits in a big way.
Devin Booker, PG/SG, Phoenix Suns
DraftKings Price: $8,200
If you're willing to pay up at both guard spots, Devin Booker is one of the top candidates for the shooting guard slot alongside Young. The Phoenix Suns' star has been up and down as of late, but his workload is locked in.
As the Suns' go-to option, Booker is averaging 17.2 field goal attempts on the year, including 17.8 in his last five. He's also logged 37 minutes a game in his five most recent games, with at least 37 in all but one. His usage is 27.5% on the year, and he's shooting a career-best 51.0% from the field in part due to Ricky Rubio's ball-handling presence this season.
On Monday, the Suns will meet the Charlotte Hornets in a road tilt boasting a high 225.5 over/under. An improved Phoenix squad finds themselves favored against a Charlotte team ranked 28th in defensive rating and dead last in that category over the last five. That has Booker projected for 37.3 DK points with a ceiling of 50-plus.
Malcolm Brogdon, PG/SG, Indiana Pacers
DraftKings Price: $8,100
Again sticking with the guard pool, we turn our attention to a player at a similar price to Booker, and that's the Indiana Pacers' Malcolm Brogdon. Brogdon does have a few games beyond the 50-point threshold, but he's proven to be a really solid cash game play over the course of his first season in Indy.
In his 16 games, Brogdon has finished only two games with fewer than 34.5 DK points. In the one, he played just nine minutes due to injury, and the other he played about 25 minutes in a rout of the Oklahoma City Thunder a few weeks back. He averages 39.4 DK points per game, but when you take those two games out he checks in at 42.7 a game.
This isn't a bad spot for Brogdon, either. His opponent, the Memphis Grizzlies, allowed him to go for 35.0 in a previous matchup, but according to Fantasy Pros, they're giving up a league-high 52.6 to point guards. His floor is even higher on a night like tonight, so don't be afraid to roster all three of these guys or at least go at Brogdon hard in cash.
