3 NBA Player Prop Bets to Target on Thursday 12/12/19

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways, from taking advantage of them straight up (to the tune of cold hard cash), to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy basketball.

While you can use those odds in fantasy, you can also utilize our fantasy projections and a variety of other tools to help make money on betting everyday player props.

For the purposes of this article, we are using the odds provided at FanDuel Sportsbook to pinpoint three spots where value can be had on a player's stat line, scoring, or even shot type.

Please note that betting lines and our game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published.

Joel Embiid, Over 24.5 Points

Joel Embiid has been on a seven-game tear, averaging 23.7 points and 13.4 rebounds per game during that span. Embiid has scored 25 or more in four of his last seven games and once in the past three.

He's facing the Boston Celtics, and these two teams met in Philadelphia to start the season. Embiid averaged 29.3 points and 15.5 rebounds in four games against the Celtics last season, and in the two games in Boston, he put up 28.5 points and 13 rebounds.

He's had great success scoring and rebounding versus Boston, and I fully expect it to continue tonight in what's always a heavyweight matchup between the two teams. Expect Embiid to make his living at thee throw line as he has made 66 of his last 77 free throws (85.7%) and is averaging 11 attempts over his last seven.

Damian Lillard, Over 23.5 Points

Damian Lillard has had four straight games of 24 or more points and is coming off a 31-point night on 8-for-12 shooting from deep in a dazzling performance against the Knicks.

Lillard and the Blazers are in Denver tonight versus the slumping Nuggets. These two teams met to open the season, and Lillard scored 32 points on 10 for 21 from the floor and 3 for 10 from three in a 108-100 loss. These two tangles in the playoffs a year ago, and Lillard averaged 25.1 points over the seven-game series and struggled in the final three games in Denver, averaging 16.3 points in Games 2, 5 and 7.

Lillard did score 39 in Game 1 against them and 32 to open this season, so he's more than capable of flying past the over here. He's scored 24 or more in six of his last seven games overall.

DeMar DeRozan, Over 20.5 Points

DeMar DeRozan has averaged 23.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.8 assists over his last 10 games. The Spurs have played two straight overtime affairs, and a night after James Harden scored 55 points on the Cavaliers, DeRozan gets his turn against this putrid Cleveland D.

DeRozan is averaging 21.4 points on the season but only 18.9 at home. The Cavs' biggest defensive weakness is the guard and small forward position, and DeRozan is a mismatch on the wing or post.

This is the perfect game for DeRozan to score 20-plus points, and last season against the Cavs at home, he scored 25 points on 10-for-12 shooting. Given the Cavs' fatigue factor and their poor defense, DeRozan is good bet here.
