3 NBA Player Prop Bets to Target on Thursday 1/23/20

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways, from taking advantage of them straight up (to the tune of cold hard cash), to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy basketball.

While you can use those odds in fantasy, you can also utilize our fantasy projections and a variety of other tools to help make money on betting everyday player props.

For the purposes of this article, we are using the odds provided at FanDuel Sportsbook to pinpoint three spots where value can be had on a player's stat line, scoring, or even shot type.

Please note that betting lines and our game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published.

Kevin Love, Over 9.5 Rebounds

Kevin Love finds himself playing quality basketball, and he and Tristan Thompson have become one of the NBA's top rebounding duos as they average a combined 20.7 rebounds, both over 10 per game. Love's over/under for boards today drops below 10 likely because of him failing to record more than nine rebounds in three straight games. The most games Love has gone without getting 10 rebounds in a game this season has been five games, and we're currently in game four now.

The Cleveland Cavaliers host the Washington Wizards, who are the NBA's second-worst rebounding team. The Wizards rank 29th in total rebounds (42.4), 29th defensive rebounds per game (32.0), and allow their opponents to record 46.3 rebounds per game (21st). Love and the Wiz met once this season, and he grabbed 12 rebounds in that one. Tonight should be more of the same, and our model backs Love's over here, projecting him for 11.0 rebounds.

Kyrie Irving, Over 22.5 Points

Kyrie Irving is probable tonight to face the Los Angeles Lakers in Brooklyn, and the Nets could certainly use Uncle Drew. The Lakers are allowing 33.7 three-point attempts per game (10th most), and the Nets are the third-worst three-point shooting team (33.2%) this season without Irving out there. Things should change if Irving is playing, and the shots should open up for teammates as he's averaged 21.0 points and 6.0 assists in four games since coming back from injury.

In those four games, Kyrie has scored more than 22 points just once -- and 32-point night -- but our projections see a lot of value here, pegging Irving to score 25.8 points.

Luka Doncic, Over 30.5 Points

Luka Doncic just torched the Trail Blazers last week for 35 points in Dallas, and they turn around and meet again in Portland tonight. Doncic played the Los Angeles Clippers in between the meetings, and he scored 36 on Kawhi Leonard and rest of the Paul George-less Clippers. I like Doncic's chances of going for 30-plus again tonight.

With one day off in between games, Doncic has averaged 29.8 points over 23 games, and at home, he's currently at 28.9 points per game. He's averaged 29 points this season in two games versus Portland, and both games were high-scoring as Dallas won the first meeting 120-112 and Portland took the second 121-119. If we get a third game like those, I expect Doncic to be among the top scorers of the night. We project Doncic to score 30.5 points.
