3 NBA FanDuel Value Plays to Target on Wednesday 10/20/21

One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays. If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing in one of these lower-salaried options into your lineup.

Let's take a look at three players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup.

Tyrese Maxey, PG/SG, Philadelphia 76ers ($4,600)

With Ben Simmons suspended for the Philadelphia 76ers, their starting lineup will look a bit different tonight.

There was no shortage of offseason storylines for the 76ers, and that has spilled into the start of the NBA. Simmons is suspended for one game and that means we could see Tyrese Maxey in the starting lineup for Philadelphia. This has led to Maxey being projected for 33.61 minutes and 28.2 FanDuel points, which makes him the best value option among guards tonight.

This shouldn't come as a surprise. He will be going up against the New Orleans Pelicans in a game with a 225.5-point over/under. The Pelicans aren't known for their defense in any capacity, and last season, we saw them allow 50.61 FanDuel points per game to opposing point guards, which was the second-worst in the league.

It sets up as a great matchup for Maxey and it should make him one of the best value plays on the slate.

Montrezl Harrell, PF/C, Washington Wizards ($4,000)

Even though Montrezl Harrell will likely be playing off the bench, he is a solid value option tonight.

The Washington Wizards should be starting Daniel Gafford at center tonight, which makes Harrell the likely option for the first big man off the bench. This is a good matchup versus the Toronto Raptors, where the over/under is sitting at 222.5 points. The total actually opened up at 218.5 points and has climbed up a few points, giving us a good indication we will see plenty of scoring in this game and, thus, plenty of fantasy points.

The Raptors are going to be without Pascal Siakam, and rookie Scottie Barnes will see plenty of minutes. That makes the matchup for Harrell a bit easier. We see Harrell projected for 23.59 minutes and 25.2 FanDuel points, making him the third-best value option on the entire slate.

Malik Beasley, SF/SG, Minnesota Timberwolves ($4,800)

The Houston Rockets at Minnesota Timberwolves matchup is one to target for fantasy scoring.

An over/under of 231.5 points should always catch your eye in NBA DFS since the expectation for scoring is very high, and that means more fantasy points for all players involved. Let's just cut to the chase for both of these teams - they aren't good on defense. They haven't been good on defense for a few seasons, and they will be routinely attacked in DFS. You can make a case for nearly any player in this game, but we want to look at Malik Beasley.

He is expected to be the starting shooting guard for the Timberwolves in an amazing matchup. Last season, the Rockets allowed a league-worst 44.80 FanDuel points per game to shooting guards. numberFire's projections have Beasley going for 27.88 minutes and 25.7 FanDuel points, which has him exceeding salary-based value.
