NBA Player Prop Bets to Target on Friday 5/20/22

Kevon Looney has been huge for Golden State the last two games and is looking like he'll play a key role in this series. How can we take advantage of that in the prop market?

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways, from taking advantage of them straight up within the betting market to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy basketball.

Here we'll focus on utilizing our projections and a slew of other tools to help make money betting player props. For this article, we are using the odds provided at NBA Finals odds to pinpoint spots where value can be had tonight.

The prop-betting experience on FanDuel Sportsbook is getting even more fun. You can track your player props with real-time updates and place in-game props with ease.

Please note that betting lines and our player projections may change throughout the day after this article is published.

Steph Curry Over 3.5 Made Three-Pointers (-132)

Our model loves this one.

While the Dallas Mavericks are a good defense and do a nice job limiting three-point attempts (35.1% three-point attempt rate in the postseason), Stephen Curry is a different beast.

Curry went 3 for 9 from deep in Game 1 but played only 30 minutes in a lopsided win. He logged at least 34 minutes in five of six games last round against the Memphis Grizzlies. The spread tonight is only 6.0 points, so he should get more run than he did Wednesday.

Prior to Game 1, Curry had made at least four threes in four of his last seven games.

We project him to hit 4.8 treys on 12.0 attempts. This is a great prop bet to target, and the -132 price isn't too bad.

Kevon Looney 6+ Points/Warriors Win (+132)

In the last round, the Mavs had a lot of success against the Phoenix Suns by going small and playing Maxi Kleber at the five. They didn't find the same kind of success versus the Golden State Warriors in the opening game of this series.

The Dubs elected to stay big and played Kevon Looney -- who is turning into a postseason hero this year after his 22-board night in the closeout game against the Memphis Grizzlies -- 28 minutes. Looney was excellent, turning in 10 points, 5 boards, 4 dimes and 2 blocks.

That's two straight good showings from Looney, who got 35 minutes in said 22-rebound game. I'm not sure why the Warriors would switch up things tonight.

We project Looney for 28 minutes and 6.1 points.

The second part of this is a Golden State win. The Dubs are 6.0-point favorites with a -260 moneyline price. The -260 number implies odds of 72.2%. Our algorithm isn't quite as bullish (65.7%), but most signs point to a Warriors win.
