5 NBA FanDuel Value Plays to Target on Monday 11/28/22

One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays.

If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing one of these lower-salaried options into your lineup.

Let's take a look at some players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup on FanDuel tonight, using numberFire's daily fantasy basketball projections as a guide.

Jose Alvarado, PG, New Orleans Pelicans
Herbert Jones, SG/SF, New Orleans Pelicans
Trey Murphy, SF, New Orleans Pelicans

Alvarado's FanDuel Salary: $4,700
Jones' FanDuel Salary: $4,600
Murphy's FanDuel Salary: $4,300

The New Orleans Pelicans are pretty decimated. C.J. McCollum is out, Brandon Ingram is doubtful, and Larry Nance Jr. is questionable. That's going to open up a lot of work for everyone on the roster and makes the team a huge source of value.

numberFire's best value play of the night is Jose Alvarado, who is projected for 29.9 minutes and 30.7 FanDuel points at a $4,700 salary. In the past two games without McCollum, Alvarado has played 29.9 and 22.3 minutes. In the 22.3-minute game, he didn't play in the fourth quarter due to a blowout.

His usage rate without McCollum, according to CourtIQ, is 20.3%, but he averages only 0.63 FanDuel points per minute in that split. However, he's a 0.92-fantasy-point-per-minute producer all season, so we can confidently expect that to scale up as the sample grows.

Herbert Jones is also projected for 29.9 minutes and 24.0 FanDuel points (5.21 per $1,000 in salary). Jones played 22.6 minutes in the last game while Ingram played 17.8 and Nance played 14.6. Like with Alvarado, he started but didn't play in the fourth quarter. He has a 23.5% usage rate across 17.4 minutes without McCollum and Ingram on the floor.

Trey Murphy III holds a 20.6% usage rate over 65.0 minutes without McCollum and Ingram on the court and stands to start for the eighth time this season. Murphy is projected for 5.86 FanDuel points per $1,000 tonight, a top-seven value rating.

We can also consider Jonas Valanciunas ($5,500), Dyson Daniels ($3,900), and Devonte' Graham ($3,500) as value plays on the Pelicans.

Kelly Olynyk, C/PF, Utah Jazz

FanDuel Salary: $5,300

The Utah Jazz face the Chicago Bulls in a game with a 236.0-point total, the second-highest of the slate. That comes with a tight 2.0-point spread, too.

Overall, that makes for one of the best composite matchups of any player on the docket for Kelly Olynyk.

Olynyk is projected for a hefty output: 32.8 FanDuel points across 30.3 minutes. That's 6.20 per $1,000 in salary.

The Bulls rank league-average in rebounding rate (50.1%) for the season and are there in the past 10 and 5 games, as well, making this a gettable matchup for Olynyk. His rebounding prop is 5.5 with -122 odds on the over.

Olynyk, over the past five games, has averaged 32.9 minutes and 32.0 FanDuel points on the back of 12.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.8 combined steals and blocks. That's elite for such a good game environment.

Deni Avdija, SF/PF, Washington Wizards

FanDuel Salary: $4,400

The Washington Wizards could be a potential spot for value. Both Kyle Kuzma and Rui Hachimura are questionable after not playing yesterday against the Boston Celtics.

In that matchup, Deni Avdija played 26.8 minutes in a starting effort but didn't play in the fourth quarter, which is a bit concerning. However, starters played just over nine combined fourth-quarter minutes in a game that was 113-88 after three periods.

Avdija should draw another start against the Minnesota Timberwolves in a game with a tight spread and is projected for 5.96 FanDuel points per $1,000 with a line of 10.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.7 combined steals and blocks.
