Jakob Poeltl ready to take reins as Spurs' leading big man
San Antonio Spurs center Jakob Poeltl feels up to the task when it comes to being the main option in the post this season, he said Thursday.
Spurs big LaMarcus Aldridge will not be with the team when the NBA resumes from the four-month coronavirus layoff, as he is recovering from surgery to repair his right shoulder. “Losing a big man, I have to step up,” Poeltl said. “I’m going to take on that challenge." It's certainly a tall task to undertake, but Poeltl seems committed to filling the perennial All Star's shoes.
Our models currently project Poeltl for 7.4 points with 6.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 20.5 minutes per game.
