Pacers' Edmond Sumner benefitted from hiatus

Indiana Pacers point guard Edmond Sumner said the time off has been great for his health.

What It Means:

Sumner has been dealing with knee soreness since his final year in college. “This is probably the best I’ve felt, especially [with my] knee,” he said. “The training staff say this is the best they’ve been treating my knee.” Sumner could see an expanded role for the restart if Victor Oladipo (knee) sticks with his initial decision to sit out. He averaged 11.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 steals over a two-game stretch before Oladipo made his season debut.

Sumner averaged 23.1 FanDuel points in that two-game stretch without Oladipo. Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Pacers are tied with the Oklahoma City Thunder for having the 10th-worst odds (+10000) to win the NBA Championship.
