Zach Collins ruled out for Trail Blazers in Game 1 with weak ankle

Portland Trail Blazers center Zach Collins has been ruled out for Game 1 versus the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday due to left ankle inflammation.

What It Means:

Collins left Saturday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies early due to some soreness and inflammation at the top of his left ankle. His absence in Game 1 could lead to additional minutes for Hassan Whiteside if the Trail Blazers decide to go big against the Lakers' starting frontcourt of Anthony Davis and JaVale McGee. It could also result in more minutes for Carmelo Anthony at the four and Gary Trent Jr. on the wing. Wenyen Gabriel may also see a boost after making the start in place of Collins in the second half on Saturday. Collins averaged 5.9 points and 6.4 rebounds during seeding play after missing almost the entire season.

Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Trail Blazers are 5.5-point underdogs on Tuesday.
